How To Solidify Your Position In The Luxury Market: A Client Case Study

There is a plethora of factors that go into creating a successful brand that enables a business to flourish, accomplish its goals and leave an impact on its industry.

In this blog, I want to walk you through a recent brand transformation for one of my incredible clients so you can get an exclusive look not only into my process but also into what you need to take into consideration when creating your branding.

Introducing Sheer Skin Clinic

The client I’m going to be talking about in this blog is an incredible aesthetics business called Sheer Skin Clinic, and this isn’t the first time I’ve had the honour of working with them.

The truth is, I created their original beauty branding 7 years ago. 

When I created their old branding, they were in a completely different position from where they are now. Before, they were looking to establish themselves as an aesthetics business and wanted to start to attract a larger client base.

So that’s what we did. We created luxury beauty branding that helped them achieve these goals and 7 years later, they came back because they were ready to start reaching their next-level goals. 

They had a new name and wanted to reflect the developments they’ve made in the last 7 years.

So, I began crafting their new brand identity!

Important note: Don’t be afraid to rebrand if you feel like you’ve outgrown your old brand design. More often than not, it’s a good sign you’ve outgrown your old branding as it means your business has evolved! This doesn’t have to involve a name change either, you can rebrand without a name change. 

PHASE ONE: PREPARATION

Preparation is a core component of crafting a successful brand. It’s what enables us to statically create branding in a way that will enable you to achieve your goals. 

Even though I knew the brand before and we had kept in touch, because of the extreme evolution they had gone through in the last 7 years, we started from scratch to ensure we were truly reflecting their growth.

The preparation process always starts with my signature luxury brand workbook. 

This workbook is designed to ask you questions that get you to reflect and think deeply about your brand so I can help to strategically design something that reflects your brand and goals. 

Once this was complete, I conducted research into their industry to ensure that what we created was something that would set them apart and establish their positioning. 

Then I created the mood board.

Top tip: Remember to re-evaluate where you are every few years. Things might have obviously changed but there can also be more subtle changes that impact branding as well. Have your services, values or processes changed? Has your ideal audience changed? Any of these changes can be an indication that it’s time to rebrand!

THE BRAND CONCEPT

Once we nailed down the direction, I created a brand concept.

This is an exciting and crucial part of the brand creation process! The brand concept includes a more fleshed out display of designs for the logo and variations and the brand colours. It includes mockups of how everything fits together as well as real-life applications so my clients can see what their brand would look like so they can envisage the final result.

After presenting this to my client, I made a few final tweaks based on their feedback and we had it!

Phase three: delivery

After everything had been signed off, I delivered all of the brand assets to the client, including colour codes, fonts, logo designs, file explanations and links to their social media templates.

They also had some print materials including gift cards, appointment cards and indoor and outdoor signs. 

The final design was stunning and the client feedback was amazing (and goes to show how impactful branding can be on a business!).
