We’ve all heard the saying, ‘A picture is worth a thousand words’, and it couldn’t be more true, especially when it comes to brand design.
The human brain processes images faster than words, which means when it comes down to it, a lot of trust is won before anything is even said.
The image your brand portrays instantly sets the stage for the rest of your messaging.
It’s a bit like meeting someone for the first time on a date. It’s a natural, unconscious instinct to judge them based on their appearance. Before they’ve even opened their mouths to say anything about themselves, or before you’ve gotten to know them, you’ve, at the very least, made a few assumptions about who they are as a person.
That’s just how our brains work…it’s the same reason you’ll naturally judge a book by its cover, even if they say you shouldn’t!

This is one of my favourite quotes by Cynthia Ozick, and it’s a significant one in relation to branding.
If you invest in branding that doesn’t draw the right people in or truly, deeply represent your brand’s essence, you’ll end up having to do it again later- wasting time and money.

First impressions can take one-tenth of a second to make.
You can’t read many words in that time, which means the first impression your business gives off is all to do with its branding.
And it is crucial to get that right.
Because if you don’t, it can take years to change it…If the person even visits your website or socials again!

Most people can afford to lose a tenner on some cheap product they buy on TikTok shop, but you’re not going to spend thousands on a service or a product that doesn’t look credible.
The risk is naturally higher, so the trust and credibility need to be higher than usual to reflect that.
Especially when research has shown that up to 81% of consumers consider brand trust and credibility to be deal-breakers or deciding factors in their purchasing decisions.
And if that wasn’t impactful enough, almost 87% of consumers say they’re willing to pay more for products from a brand they trust.

Your fonts, your colours, the subliminal influences… on their own, they don’t feel too significant.
